National Women’s History Month Concludes With The Diva Derby Benefiting Women’s Resource Center of Manatee County

For March 2011, the theme has been Our History is Our Strength. This year local communities, organizations and institutions are honoring women within their own communities or organizations.

Sarasota, FL – March 16, 2011 ( via PressReleasenation.com ) — Our History is Our Strength pays tribute to millions of women who helped create a better world for the times in which they lived as well as for future generations. Knowing the challenges these women faced, grappled with, and over-came can be an enormous source of strength to all of us. During today’s difficult times, Our History is Our Strength can serve as an important reminder to our nation that adversity can be overcome.

National Women’s History Month will conclude this year in Manatee County Florida with the much anticipated Diva Derby event. Honorary Diva, Pat Glass, Manatee County Commissioner will preside over 10 teams of 4 women competing for the Diva Derby Title and fantastic grand prize of a luxury spa package donated from Treatments Day Spa http://www.treatments.net. There will also be prizes for best dressed Diva and best tricked out trike donated by Seaduced Watercraft Adventures http://www.seaducedagain.com and Coach Handbags http://www.coach.com.

The Diva Derby event will take place on Saturday March 26th from 3:00pm ET to 6:00pm ET in Downtown, Bradenton Florida on Old Main Street from Manatee Avenue South to 4th Avenue.

The Diva Derby, one of five March events the Women’s Resource Center of Manatee County has planned this year will feature teams of women competing in their “inner diva.”

“Many women remember the childhood days of dressing up as either a princess or a bride or both,” said Ashley Brown, executive director of the Women’s Resource Center, “We want to find some of that fun we all had and enjoy it now with this event. We certainly have a wealth of serious and sobering events around us.”

She described the diva derby as a spring break during college, surrounded by other events that will study the “accomplishments of women and encouraging women now and for the future.”

You aren’t part of one of the teams? Don’t worry there will be entertainment and fun for observers as well. Participate in the scavenger hunt poker game; the best hand wins a $50 gift certificate from Mangrove Grill.
