Win a Sony a380 digital SLR camera, zoom lens and a digital photo frame in The Independent’s Summer Through The Lens photography contest. Presented in association with Sony and the a380 DSLR, their latest digital SLR camera.

London, England, UK – August 28, 2009 (PressReleasePivot) — On Saturday 29 August, The Summer Through The Lens photography contest from The Independent enters its final stage. The contest has pitched amateur and professional photographers against each other using the latest Sony a380 Digital SLR camera.

In the final two weeks, the public can vote for their favourite photograph out of all the entries from the previous four weeks of competition. A winner will be selected at random, and they will receive the model of camera that has been used in the contest, a Sony a380 Digital SLR, zoom lens and an 8″ Sony Digital Photo Frame.

“It has been a fascinating exercise which has fully explored the capabilities of the a380 DSLR to cope with the rigors of a professional brief,” says a spokesperson from The Independent. “The emphasis being on reactions, originality, and the ability of the individual to explore the potential of a given situation. To ensure a level playing field, each photographer supplied us with untouched image files.”

From Saturday 29, visitors to http://www.independent.co.uk/alpha can vote for their favourite image from all the submissions from the previous 4 weeks ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N04W6X7MOoo ). They will then be in with a chance of winning one of the same model of camera that has been used throughout the contest, the a380 Digital SLR and a digital photo frame from Sony. Until then, users can still take part in week 4 of the competition by selecting which set of images has been taken by a professional and which by an amateur. They will then be entered into a draw with a chance of winning an 8″ Digital Photo Frame from Sony.

“So far, visitors to the website have been asked to vote on whether they think collections of images have been taken by a professional or an amateur,” continues the spokesperson. “Now they can actually vote for their favourite overall image from the previous weeks. It will be interesting to see if the most popular image was taken by one of the amateurs or a professional.”

Featuring 14.8 megapixels of resolution, the a380 ( http://www.sony.co.uk/alpha ) boasts a number of cutting edge features; at only 15.9 ozs it’s small, light, and easy to use. Quick Autofocus Live View allows the rear LCD screen to be used to compose the image, while the screen flips out to enable low down or overhead shots. Super SteadyShot Inside removes camera shake and gives ultra sharp results.
