Rhetoric – originally contrived as a set of forms for making speeches for large juries and audiences in ancient Greece – focuses on facts and persuading, not fiction and entertaining. NewView, on the other hand, a system for analyzing and writing essays, can also be used to analyze and write any sort of fiction, including short stories.
Provo, UT – February 13, 2010 (PressReleasePivot) — Rhetoric is a set of forms used for analyzing courtroom speeches, ceremonial speeches, political speeches, and essays. It was taught by Aristotle and other ancient Greeks to help people prove facts and to persuade audiences. But it’s not a practical system with practical processes, and it was not intended to be used for either analyzing or writing fiction, says Bill Drew, the CEO of NewView Options.
Drew claims that his new e-book, The Secret DNA of Analyzing Short Stories, goes Rhetoric one better and uses the Universal Law of NewView to analyze all short stories in a down-to-earth, practical way that gets to the heart of each story. Drew claims that analyzing with NewView is the first step toward writing essays about short stories and also the first step in actually writing quality short stories.
When asked what the Universal Law of NewView is, Drew refers to his recently published e-book, The Secret DNA of Writing Essays – And Everything Else ( http://bit.ly/SecretDNABookAmazon ): “In my first Secret DNA book, I demonstrated that the most important thing in any communication is the Universal Law of ‘What’s new to the audience / reader’.”
“No matter how well you craft your speech, your essay, your magazine article, your letter, your poem, or your commercial advertisement – if the audience or reader has already heard it or read it before, then it cannot be effective in persuading or entertaining or informing. What’s old – already known, already accepted, already familiar – just doesn’t do the job, and the old is all that Rhetoric and other methods of analyzing and writing have to offer.”
Drew continued, “It’s common sense that something has to change by the end of a short story, something has to be different than the beginning. NewView provides a system that’s easy to learn for recognizing what is set up as the OldView at the beginning of every story and how it changes to a NewView by the end of a story. NewView Analysis works with all stories, whether a short story or a novel, though it’s applied a little differently with a novel.”
Drew went on to point out that publications like Cliff Notes can help students understand a specific short story or novel through insider, proprietary knowledge and reasoning, but that’s as far as it goes. Such publications don’t teach what readers can repeatedly use on other stories. You have to keep going back to Cliff Notes for more of their specialized, insider, proprietary information for each different story. “That’s where my new e-book, The Secret DNA of Analyzing Short Stories, shines – it teaches you how to use NewView Analysis on all short stories, not just those analyzed in the book. And you can use that same NewView method with novels, though there are some differences – which is why I’ll be coming out with another e-book soon, The Secret DNA of Analyzing Novels.”
There will eventually be a series of Secret DNA books, such as, The Secret DNA of Shakespeare’s Plays, The Secret DNA of Business Writing, The Secret DNA of Education & Teaching, The Secret DNA of Science, etc., according to Drew.
His latest e-book, The Secret DNA of Analyzing Short Stories, will be published on February 17th and will be available online as a PDF e-book at http://bit.ly/BuySecretDNABook for $5.75. Drew’s other e-book, The Secret DNA of Writing Essays – And Everything Else, is available online in PDF format from the same web site for $12.50, and it is also available on Amazon.com as a Kindle e-book for $9.50 at http://bit.ly/SecretDNABookAmazon . NewView Essay Services, a computer program, automates the thesis-making process in the Writing Essays e-book, and that product is available at http://bit.ly/SecretDNASoftware on a subscription basis for 3-, 6-, and 12-month terms ($15.75, $20.95, $31.35).
