The Manatee Twisters 8 & Under competitive softball team is holding their first annual Pros vs. Girls Charity Softball game Saturday, February 18th at Birdie Tebbetts Field, from 1-4 PM on Holmes Beach in Anna Maria Island.

This event will feature a mix-up game of current and former major- and minor-league players, pro and university softball players and our very own Manatee Twisters 8 year old girls. Some of the pros on the lineup are Jose Bautista, the two time American League homerun leader (2010, 2011) from the Toronto Blue Jays, Marco Scutaro now from the Colorado Rockies (just traded from the Boston Red Sox), Jose Tabata (Pittsburgh Pirates) and more to be confirmed…

All proceeds will support two wonderful women’s charities: Manatee Twisters 8 & under competitive softball team and the Women’s Resource Center of Manatee County. Both organizations strive to promote women and young girls to be positive, strong and independent.

There is no charge for this event, but donation helmets will be floating around, as well as a silent auction, ballpark face, BBQ and refreshments.

Everyone is welcome! Bring the family, lawn chairs and cheering voices, and support this unique fun event!

About The Women’s Resource Center of Manatee:
The WRC is THE place in Manatee County for women to discover their strengths, build their confidence and find their path to success.

WRC is often the first stop or call people make when they are facing a new challenge, dealing with transition, feeling overwhelmed, or just needing information. Through both phone calls and one-on-one consultations, WRC’s staff and volunteers connect women with a program at the Center or a community resource. WRC tries to provide women with a ‘roadmap’ so they can help themselves overcome current obstacles and move toward a more optimistic future.

Programs offered at the Center include: Individual Counseling, Employment Coaching, Support Groups, Computer Classes, Networking Opportunities, and Informational Workshops. Call 941-747-6797, e-mail wrcinfo@wrcmanatee.org or visit http://www.wrcmanatee.org/ for more information.
